Even Sheks who know jackshit about farming could be trained pretty fast, not to mention races with XP boosts. Look for Miu in Shark and hive worker drones in any waystation or UC town. Hive worker drones get bonus +20% XP to farming so even a cheap recruit with all 1's for stats will learn quick.Suggestion 1 is to get to the point of researching hydroponics. So you can do farming indoors in a building bought in a city. But this would require a lot of research and cost/looting to gather the resources required. So may need to get combat characters or stealth and high thievery characters....
