On the existing TBI; the distance from the cruise cable to the throttle plate centerline must be maintained when connecting the cable to the Qjet. It should be close, but the exact matching is not that critical. The cruise control uses feedback from the speedo drive to set the position of the cruise cable.

I have completed the entire TBI to carb conversion I completed the entire swap (Carburetor and Distributor) on my 1989 YJ 2.5L. I did not have to replace the intake manifold to do the swap.I first removed the old throttle body.I traced the mounting base of the Throttle body onto a piece of light cardboard to create a template for an adapter plate to go between the carburetor and intake manifold.If everyone was happy why change to TBI. Doesnt matter who uses all the power or not. KTM believes TBI is better than TPI. Many on this site, other riders and KTM's own comments say TBI feels more like a carb.
